Information About Aussiedoodles

To start, Aussiedoodles are a cross between the Australian Shepherd and Poodle, which, I feel, are two of the most intelligent dog breeds in the world. I bred/trained Australian Shepherds for herding, obedience and therapy for many years. The Aussiedoodles have exceeded my expectations. Aussiedoodles are extremely in tuned to their “people”.

Information About Aussiedoodles ~ Colors & Sizes

Aussiedoodles come in a variety of colors. Some colors include: Blue/Red Merles, Fawn, Black, Tri and ,Parti. Variations of colors occurs, therefore the list goes on and on.

SIZES: Australian Shepherds come in only 3 different sizes, as do Poodles. Therefore, determining the Aussiedoodle’s adult size is much easier. Unfortunately, I never had that luxury with Labradoodles or Goldendoodles, which basically come in one size only -big. Puppies produced from artifical insemination, can be different sizes in the same litter. Some even with long backs and short legs. Not beneficial when breeders are trying to keep the hybrid vigor in the Doodle Breeds.

As with any intelligent breed, formal classes are best, even if you are a experienced dog trainer. Classes are highly recommended not only for the structure , but for the socialization, as well. Socialization is very important from the time they have completed all their shots at 12 weeks old. Aussiedoodles are very dedicated to their families. It is best if they experience all sorts of people and pets from an early age so that no fear or protection arises.

Information About the Aussiedoodles ~Temperaments

Aussiedoodles are “little people” with hair. They will break their little hearts to please you. They are very easy to train. Aussiedoodles mature very early. Positive reinforcement training is best. They can get their feelings hurt very easily. Aussiedoodle’s make exceptional Service or Therapy Dogs, and wonderful family pets. But, training is essential or they will train themselves, which is not always a good thing. It is very important for the entire family to go to training classes to make sure all are training methods so as not to confuse the puppy. Just like Children.

Health Note, I have notice that the Aussiedoodle ear carriage is typically higher then the Labradoodle or Goldendoodles,This resists their getting ear infections,
Also Growth issues such as Hip Dysplasia are typically lower in Australian Shepherds and Poodles. Hence less chance of growth issues.

Our Mini Aussiedoodles are expected to mature between 15 and 35  pounds, 14 to 17″ at the shoulder. A perfect size!
